Dual Cope Log Stairway™ Patent #7,900,403

The Armstrong Creek Company™ introduces cutting edge technology for log stairways. The entire process is achieved using CNC and CAD technology together, along with specially designed machinery. We guarantee our stairways to fit the dimensions you provide. This new process reduces installation time, saving you money, and greatly increases the strength of the stairway. And is stronger compared to the 'old' method because much less material is removed from the stringer eliminating stringer deflection or the need for a center support. Both the tread and the stringer are machined to create two mating surfaces. This eliminates all shimming/fitting of the treads. Through all of this machining you still maintain the rustic look of your log stairway.

Mortise & Tenon Log Stairway

Our log stairways are manufactured to your specifications using CNC and CAD technology. Our CNC machine has been custom designed to produce exact matching stringers and treads, yet leaving the hand peeled finish. All flat surfaces are planed smooth, ready to stain and finish. We can also supply un-machined stringers and treads to be field fitted. This style is also available in timber frame style.

Where there is a stairway against a wall, we can plane (flatten) the outside of that stringer to allow for a flat fit on the wall. This allows for a wider tread in most cases and also leaves a portion of the round on top of the stringer. Other companies use a square stringer for this application with no round on top.

Each tread has a 2" x 6" tenon on each end. The stringers are mortised to accept the tread. This mortise and tenon design insures structural integrity and ease of assembly. We also counter bore the stringer with a 1" diameter to accept the 3/8" x 8" long lag screw and finish plug. All lag bolts and plugs are supplied. The lag bolts are 3/8" diameter x 8" long. A complete stairway as described above is also available with all square edge stock. The stringers are 3 3/4 " x 11 1/2 " and the treads are 3 1/2 " x 11".
